Hong Kong Disneyland is honoring its 20th anniversary this year with a new celebration kicking off this summer, ‘The Most Magical Party of All’. The celebration includes a daytime show in front of the castle as well as a new parade, along with a new ‘special edition’ of the nighttime spectacular, Momentus.
Disney Parks are known for their anniversary celebrations, and with so many parks across the globe there is usually always some sort of anniversary celebration going on. Between stage shows, parades, and other park exclusive activities, Disney usually goes big for the anniversaries. For Hong Kong’s 20th, first and foremost is an all new anniversary-only stage show that will be taking place on the stage of their castle.
The new show will star classic Mickey and friends, Disney princesses, and the eastern park exclusive characters Duffy and friends. For those who don’t know, Duffy and friends are an entire subset of Disney characters that roam the eastern parks such as Hong Kong and Tokyo Disneyland, and a lot of Americans don’t even realize they exist.
Along with the stage show, a new parade, Friendtastic!, will also debut. This parade will feature 11 floats in what will be the largest scale parade ever done in the Hong Kong park. The show will star Mickey and friends and will be exclusively a day-time event.
Last (but certainly not least) is a new special edition of Momentus. Momentus is the nightly show offered in Hong Kong, and guests will be able to see a special edition of this large scale projection and drone filled show. Details on what the ‘special edition’ will entail have not been made clear yet, but I’m assuming the differences will be significant.
According to Disney, the celebration will extend across the entirety of the resort:
“From the park to the hotels, the entire resort is joining in the celebration! Prepare for a wide array of party elements created just for the anniversary, including dazzling new 20th anniversary outfits for Mickey and Friends, along with Duffy and his friends.”
